Exposing Academia
Cheating and paid essays and dissertations:
1) Oxbridge Essays:
Oxbridge Essays is a British company that describes itself as such: "Since 2006, Oxbridge Essays™ has been the UK's largest and leading provider of guaranteed Upper 1st, 1st Class and 2:1 essays and dissertations, custom written by academics from leading UK universities." Check their website here: http://www.oxbridgeessays.com.
That such a company exists means that such a demand exists. Anybody can buy a paper or a dissertation without contributing anything original. The fact that papers, theses and dissertations can be faked is a clear indicator of their scientific worthlessness; in other terms, they are mere writing exercises.
2) Media articles about cheating and falsification:
The Independent, 15 January 2009: Cheating is a growing problem facing academia.
The Chronicle of Higher Education, 12 November 2010: The Shadow Scholar: The man who writes your students' papers tells his story.
College fees payment through prostitution:
CBS Miami, 14 February 2012: Financial Sex Aid: Florida Co-Eds Seek “Sugar Daddy” for College Degree.
Salon, 6 March 2012: The Sugar Daddy recession.
Student debt slavery:
Bloomberg Businessweek, 17 February 2012: Student Loans Near $1 Trillion Hurting Young Buyers: Mortgages.
The New York Times, 5 March 2012: Fed Study of Student Debt Outlines a Growing Burden.
Naked Capitalism, 9 March 2012:
Philip Pilkington: Student Debt in the US Continues to Blow Up.
Naked Capitalism, 21 April 2012: The Burgeoning Student Debt Problem.
The New York Times, 12 May 2012: A Generation Hobbled by the Soaring Cost of College.
Digital Journal, 13 May 2012: Op-Ed: How to kill America with an overpriced college system.
The Scam of Academia:
The Washington Post, 23 April 2012: Note to Class of 2012: More than half of young college graduates now jobless or underemployed.
The New York Times, 28 April 2012: The Imperiled Promise of College.
The Chronicle of Higher Education, 6 May 2012: 'Now That I'm Relevant, I Can't Get a Job'.
More to Come: Under Construction
